I struggled to sit down and write this week’s update because, honestly, there hasn’t been a whole lot to share.

I had a lot of visitors this week, which was so nice and definitely helped pass the time—but I’ve also felt really unmotivated to do much of anything besides scroll. I think my brain has gotten used to the mindlessness of it, and now it’s struggling to shift back into anything that requires real thought or effort.

Surprisingly, my pain was higher this week than in previous weeks. Toward the end of the week, I ended up taking some of my stronger pain meds again, along with muscle relaxers. I’m not totally sure what caused the increase. I don’t feel like I’ve been moving much more than usual. Most of my days are still spent in the recliner, aside from showering, using the restroom, or grabbing something simple to eat.

It does make me a little nervous heading into weight bearing this week.

This Week’s Happenings

So what did this week actually look like?

Honestly… more of the same.

Eating, sleeping, doom scrolling, watching TV, and a little bit of computer work. Not much else.

I didn’t hit any of the goals I set for last week, and I can definitely feel myself in more of a mental slump than I have been so far. I think I’m just really, really ready to move my body again. One of my goals was to start a “From Fracture to Fit” series. And while I will be sharing my journey back to the workouts I love, I felt a shift this week.

I did manage to crutch my coffee over to my spot this week …. Literally the only video/photos I have from this week.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen me share that when I feel stuck, I tend to default to weight loss, food, or fitness-related challenges. That pattern ties back to some of my disordered eating tendencies, and I’m trying to be more mindful of that.

So instead, I’m starting something different: The “Anything But Weight Loss” series.

I’ll still be challenging myself—but the rules are simple: It can’t have anything to do with weight loss.

Otherwise, there’s not much more to report this week.

Weight Bearing Again

In just a couple of days, Wednesday, I have my 6-week appointment, which feels like a huge milestone in this recovery. If my X-rays show enough bone healing, I should be cleared to start putting 100% of my weight on my operated side, as tolerated.

Even then, I know it’ll take time to fully wean off crutches. I’m guessing somewhere in the 3–6 week range, but we’ll see how my body responds.

Looking Ahead

I do have a busier week ahead—my kids are home for spring break, and I have my 6-week follow-up—so I’m hoping for some more exciting updates next time.

Although… “busy” might look a little different when most of your time has been spent on the couch.
